Thirteen birdies and five pars for a final round 59 secured the championship for the Warthen brothers in the 2016 Quigley Cup Men's Invitational at Santa Maria CC. A match that was very competitive through the first eight holes became a "one horse race" when J.R. and Justo carded six consecutive birdies on holes 8-13. This quality stretch of golf catapulted them from two shots ahead to seven shots with five holes remaining. A margin that would only increase by the conclusion of play, earning the boys an emphatic nine shot victory.

Both of the brothers played very well during todays proceedings shooting 63 and 69 on their own cards and always stepping up for the other when in need. The main reason they are proving to be a dominant duo is because they understand each others games to the point that they are able to create a game plan that will always produce positive results. Justo plays first from the tee usually executing the aggressive option and J.R. then chooses his strategy based off of his brothers result. An approach to best-ball that is working very well for them and they are planning to continue their winning ways in two weeks time.

The next event is the SCGA Four-Ball Championship at La Purisima GC November 7, 8 where the brothers will attempt to win three consecutive starts as a team. Winning an SCGA event would be a great accomplishment for the boys and they are very excited for another opportunity to compete. Between now and November 7, they will continue to prepare their games and minds and they will be ready to execute around the beautifuly challenging La Purisima GC.
